A timeless tale of love and adventure by William Goldman.

A tongue in cheek fairytale about love, redemption and revenge, ‘The Princess Bride’ is full of every kind of fairytale character possible.  There are wizards, a Spanish sword master, pirates, massive rats, giants, an evil genius, a murdering prince who wants to take over the kingdom.  Sword fights abound as Wesley, the farm boy, tries to be reunited with Buttercup, his one true love.

A Timeless Classic

Double Oscar winning screenwriter William Goldman has crafted an absolutely magical novel here in ‘The Princess Bride’. Originally he said all he had done was abridge this story from an original legend by S. Morgenstern yet that was a fallacy designed to be a plot point.

The characters here come to life effortlessly even if you haven’t seen the movie version of this whereas if you have seen the movie, you can’t help but visualize the scenes from this book happening.

The characters of Wesley and Buttercup are so brilliantly and romantically written that it’s nearly impossible to not get swept up in the sheer beauty of their simple love affair.

The character of Inigo Montoya is the best character by far in the novel. His back story is fully fleshed out as is his past with the swordsman who killed his father.

Definitely one that everyone should read. It’s beautifully written and full of both romance and excitement. In fact, even though it’s a cliché to say so, this book really does have something for everyone.
