A Companion Book To The Movie.

With Hogs watch (the Discworld version of Christmas) approaching fast, the Hogfather has gone missing.  If all the gifts aren’t delivered on time then the sun will fail to rise tomorrow.  There’s another entity however who is able to be in two places at once.  His name is Death.  That’s when he hatches a plan.  With a false beard and some cushions as a disguise and Susan,  the Governess, to find the real Hogfather, there may just be a chance to save Hogswatch itself.

A Great Addition To Any Terry Pratchett Fans Collection

It’s only fair to start this review by saying that I am a I gigantic Terry Pratchett fan. In fact, I think he is an absolute legend so I was quite worried when they announced that they’d be making television versions of some of his novels. I shouldn’t have been so worried though. With Pratchett taking quite a good over view of the proceedings, the television specials themselves kept a lot of the charm and sophestication of the novels, while still remaining incredibly fun.

The book it self is a great bit of publishing and should take pride of place in anyone’s collection. It’s brilliantly laid out with the screenplay itself but also with some brilliant pictures of the action around the text itself. This makes it very easy on the eye and not word heavy like a lot of screenplays tend to be when they’re released.

There’s not just pictures of the action either. There are production illustrations and sketches as well as some amazing behind the scenes pictures too. This really adds yet another level to the book. I also really like after word by the producers that closes the screenplay. It really gives a small but interesting glimpse in to the respect that they held for the original novel by Terry Pratchett.
