When I first read the blurb to this story, I took it home with some very high expectations. In fact, I had heard nothing but exciting things about Matt Wagner’s work yet when I sat down to read it, I was incredibly disappointed with it.

The story showed such great promise yet the execution of it was incredibly flawed. The artwork instead of drawing me in, put me off instead. It seemed very simplistic and didn’t really add any atmosphere to the tale. A story of this type deserved to be told in a dark and maybe gothic manner. Told using shadows and flashes of violence. Instead nothing was really left to the imagination. It was the same with the writing too. That was another part of the whole package that seemed simplistic.

All in all, a major disappointment.
