Superb

World War Hulk: Frontline is the fourth installment of the World War Hulk storyline.

However, that doesn't stop this title from being instantly readable as a standalone title. There are enough nods to past events to make it fit in with the other titles without letting the reader feel lost at any point. I especially liked the prologue in which some of the Hulks past battles with members of the Marvel superhero roster were revealed.

Another part of the writing I liked was the fact that they haven't treated Hulk as a mindless killing machine intent on revenge. They've given him a mind and a team of characters around him that are so fully fleshed out that everything is happening for a reason and just not for the hell of having something happen on the page.

The only part that this release falls down on are the little comedic interludes included here entitled 'War is Heck' because a) they weren't all that funny and b) I felt that they took away from the overall intense feel of the tale.

The artwork itself is absolutely brilliant and makes good use of the characters expressions, the surroundings and even light and shadow to really create a feel of menace and terror that leaps off of the page. In fact the writing and the artwork combined so well that I just could not put this book down. I had to keep reading to the very end.

Even if you haven't read any of the previous World War Hulk stories, I highly recommend this release just for the sheer quality of the writing and art. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!
