Walled In

Mischa Barton and Cameron Bright star in the recent horror release ‘Walled In’ alongside Deborah Kara Unger. Set in a mysterious building in the middle of nowhere, Barton stars as an engineer sent to supervise the demolition of the building. As she evaluates the building, she slowly uncovers the sinister secrets the building hides and soon her life is at risk.

‘Walled In’ is a patchy movie. It’s slow to start, almost painfully so, but then we’re treated to 45 minutes of creepy, atmospheric events that make up for the lacklustre beginning. Unfortunately, the film then loses it’s way and we’re left with an unsatisfying conclusion that kills all the good will it had managed to regain.

Barton is not the best actress in the world and for the most part her performance is stilted and unconvincing. She manages to pull it together by the end of the film, but by then the film itself has taken a dip for the dire. Deborah Kara Unger is excellent, as always, and her creepy caretaker is fun to watch.

Cameron Bright begins well, but loses his way as the film progresses, and soon comes across as a whiny brat, instead of the unnerving threat he’s supposed to be.

Whilst the premise is good, the script does it little justice. The direction is uninspired and overall the film is just a little disappointing. Really not worth the effort.
