Shorts

Robert Rodrigeuz returns to the kiddie territory he seemingly easily conquered with the Spy Kids franchise. However Shorts has more in common with ‘The Adventures Of Sharkboy and Lavagirl’…..

Toe Thompson is a bored and lonely 11 year old kid who is one day hit on the head by a magical, wish-granting rock. As magical mayhem ensues, the lesson here is be careful what you wish for.

Much like ‘Sharkboy’, Shorts suffers in comparison to the far superior ‘Spy Kids’ movies. An overly simplistic plot, coupled with poor CGI and a transparent and layered on message make this a far less enjoyable film.

Admittedly I’m not the target audience here, and I do see the appeal to the kids. With plenty of farcical fun and colourful effects, your little ones will probably have the time of their lives. Just don’t attempt to sit and watch it with them, as no attempt has been made to include anything of enjoyment for us adults.
