“Bradley Walsh and Jamie Bamber [are] a well-matched old dog/young pup pair of cops” Metro

“Walsh is a revelation – his DS Ronnie Brooks is a classic TV copper… Gritty, witty, super-fast
and full of extraneous but believable chat and characters. Excellent” Daily Mail

This is how the Brits do it: follow our very own Criminal Justice System from crime to case-closed, as the US TV phenomenon gets a quintessentially British make-over. Kick off 2010 with this 11 January release, on DVD from Universal Playback, of the début series of LAW & ORDER: UK. Unfailingly intriguing and with impeccable credentials across the board, this brand new version of the massively successful US format is the definitive look at how the investigators and the prosecutors together maintain Law and Order … UK-style.

The cream of British acting talent is brought together in an ensemble cast of extraordinary breadth to star in LAW & ORDER: UK, which became an instant hit and was watched by over 6 million viewers when broadcast on ITV1 in 2009. Representing the front line is Bradley Walsh (Torn, Coronation Street) as DS Ronnie Brooks – a real East End copper’s copper, and friend & partner to the charming DS Matt Devlin, and Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica), whose approach to policing is part force, part seduction. Both report to Harriet Walter (Atonement, The Young Victoria) as DI Natalie Chandler, a working mum who would back them to the end.

On the side of the Law is the Crown Prosecution Service team comprising Freema Agyeman (Dr Who, Torchwood, Little Dorrit) as hard-working, strong-willed young prosecutor Alesha Phillips; Ben Daniels (The Passion, The State Within, Cutting It) as dedicated Senior Crown Prosecutor James Steel, a man on a mission for justice; and Bill Paterson (Little Dorrit, Criminal Justice, Sea of Souls) as their respected boss, CPS director George Castle, a man trying to balance his ideals with the bigger picture.

Outstanding talent behind the scenes too includes producers from Spooks, Torchwood, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and Ashes To Ashes, along with intense, lively and tantalising scripts by Chris Chibnall, who counts highly successful series such as Life On Mars and Torchwood among his prestigious credits.

“It feels like a breath of fresh air” Daily Express
“The detailed police procedure, combined with tense courtroom scenes,
will please die-hard fans of the original, as well as newcomers” Total TV Guide

Law & Order has become television’s pre-eminent brand, with the original US version still the record holder for the most consecutive (11) Emmy nominations for a drama series. And now, at last, adding to smash-hit US spin-offs L&O: Special Victims Unit and L&O: Criminal Intent, comes this, the British take with a uniquely British twist. With true-to-life suspense, glossy looks, snappy and teasing dialogue, rough-diamond cops and legal smoothies, LAW & ORDER: UK is proper, home-grown Crime … and Punishment.
